Steen and NorwoodHARTSVILLE, S.C. – Two Hartsville High School Red Foxes will move on to play collegiate golf next year after signing letters of intent Thursday.

Zeke Steen will head to Francis Marion University, while Haydon Norwood will attend Presbyterian College.

The two inked their commitments in the Hartsville High School Arena in front of a large crowd of family, friends, administrators and classmates.

Norwood described the signing as a day four years in the making.

“It’s amazing,” he said. “This has been my dream ever since freshman year. To finally be able to sign with Presbyterian is a dream come true, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Steen said he could not be more excited to continue playing competitively in college.

“It feels awesome. It was a dream,” he said. “I’m glad I finally get to do it. I’m ecstatic that I’m going to play at Francis Marion.”

Hartsville Athletics Director Phyllis Griggs praised the two student-athletes and reminded the rest of the students how important academics are to having the opportunity to play at the next level.

“It took a lot of work for these two to get here,” she said. “You can be the best athlete in the world, but if you don’t have the grades to get to the next level, then you don’t get to go. Congratulations to both of you.”

Steen and Norwood helped guide the Red Foxes to six consecutive region titles and a Class 3A Lower State championship in 2016.
