Darlington County School District Department of Exceptional Education supports and implements a quality education continuum for students with disabilities.  There are approximately 1,200 students served by Darlington County in various special education programs throughout the district.  We employ over 200 special education employees including Special Education Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Speech Therapists, Physical Therapists, Adaptive Physical Education Teachers, Applied Behavioral Therapist Assistants and Psychologists to meet the needs of every one of our students.  We strive to broaden our community’s understanding and appreciation of individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to provide the most appropriate education possible to all students in a safe, caring environment.
