HOW WE COMPARE OTHER DISTRICTS IN THE STATE

3RD In Academic Achievement
The Darlington County School District ranks third in South Carolina in terms of academic achievement, as measured by the South Carolina Department of Education.

2ND In Graduation Rates
The Darlington County School District has the second highest graduation rate in South Carolina (93%), well above the state’s average graduation rate of 74.9%.

6th Among Career Centers

The Darlington County Institute of Technology ranks 6th among the state’s 39 career centers (up from 14th last year). They earned an “Excellent” on their 2012 report card.

We Are Excellent

Of the 22 schools in the district, eleven schools have received the highest rating of “Excellent”. The Darlington County School District is also rated “Excellent”. Ninety-six percent of DCSD schools are rated “Average” or higher on the annual report cards from the South Carolina Department of Education.

3rd Lowest Dropout Rate

The Darlington County School District’s drop-out rate as determined by the South Carolina Department of Education is 0.6%, half of last year's rate and far less than the state's average dropout rate of  2.8%. The lower the rate, the fewer the drop-outs.

15TH In Scholarship Amounts
In 2010, we were the fifteenth highest earning school district in terms of scholarships. Since 2002, seniors from Darlington High, Hartsville High, Lamar High and Mayo High School for Math, Science & Technology have earned $105,822,825 in scholarships.
