DCSD to return to in-person classes Monday, Jan. 25

DARLINGTON, S.C. -- The Darlington County School District will return to in-person classes Monday, Jan. 25, for all face-to-face students. Middle and high school students will resume their hybrid schedule, and elementary students will resume their regular classes. Students in the Darlington County Virtual Academy will continue their regular virtual program.
“Though the number of cases in Darlington County is still high, the numbers are decreasing,” said Dr. Tim Newman, superintendent of the Darlington County School District. “We have also seen a significant drop in the number of cases among teachers and students over the past weeks. We took the time out of our buildings to get past the holiday surge, and we believe this was accomplished. Students learn best in a face-to-face environment, and we look forward to bringing our students back into our buildings.”
Sports and extracurricular activities will also resume on Monday, Jan. 25.
As a reminder, parents are asked to contact their child’s school as soon as possible if their child tests positive for COVID-19 or is placed in quarantine. This is also true if the child tested positive or is in quarantine while the schools were virtual.
The Darlington County School District reports all positive cases by school each day on the district’s COVID-19 dashboard, found on the district’s website under “COVID Resources.”
