Students from Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology participate in 2019 S.C. STEM Signing Day
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Two Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology seniors recently participated in the Third Annual S.C. STEM Signing Day, presented by Boeing South Carolina, BMW Manufacturing Co. and the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. The University of South Carolina Alumni Center hosted the event.
Mariscia Mark and Yorel Stevenson joined 92 other students from around the state April 10 for the prestigious ceremony. Mark and Stevenson were chosen for the occasion based on criteria set forth by the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance.
STEM Signing day recognizes students in South Carolina who have pursued STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) during their high school careers. The students also plan to continue STEM education at two- and four-year colleges. The students were identified through the S.C. Future Makers initiative using the Tallo career portfolio platform.
Mark will attend the University of South Carolina and study nursing, while Stevenson will attend Tuskegee University and study aerospace engineering.
