State law governs the enrollment of students in school districts where they do not reside. Students may attend school out of their resident district under the following exceptions to state law: 1) wherein a student living in another county may be released to attend a school in the non-resident county if they reside closer to the non-resident school, or 2) the student owns real estate in the non-resident county with a tax assessment value of 300 or more. Any student attending school in the Darlington County School District who does not own property in Darlington County, will need to pay tuition per child, per school year. The amount for tuition will be available by July 1, 2024. Tuition must be paid in full before the first day of school.
