Five HHS students sign letters of intentDARLINGTON, S.C. – Five student-athletes from Hartsville High School signed national letters of intent last week to play collegiate sports. The ceremony was held inside the school’s arena in front of a large crowd of students, family and friends.

Emma Charles will attend Anderson University and play golf. Tessa Fonteneau will attend Erskine College and play soccer. Trae Hannibal will head to the University of South Carolina to play basketball. Jessica McWhorter will play softball for Coker College, and Mitchell Vance will attend Francis Marion University to play golf.

Jamie Horton, Hartsville High’s athletics director, spoke highly of the students’ efforts and determination that led them to accomplishing their goals.

“It took a lot of hard work for them to get here,” Horton said. “They had to not only perform on the field or on the court but also they had to do it in the classroom. That’s something that they should be very, very proud of.”
