Darlington Facility Proposal

In Darlington, the district plans to create a new K-5 elementary school that brings together Pate Elementary School and Brockington Elementary Magnet School on one modern campus designed for young learners. The plan would replace two aging facilities, strengthen safety and accessibility, and give Darlington students the same K-5 elementary structure used in all other district elementary schools. The school would be built on the same property as Darlington Middle School and the Darlington County Institute of Technology on land the district already owns. It would use the same proven design as Black Creek Elementary School and J.L. Cain Elementary School, allowing the district to build from a model that has already worked well for students and staff. Based on community feedback, the district has redesigned traffic patterns for the proposed elementary school and the two existing schools on the property, and is working closely with the South Carolina Department of Transportation to address traffic needs. The goal is to create a strong, welcoming learning environment for Darlington’s children while making responsible use of existing district-owned land and planning thoughtfully for the community’s future.
