Lamar Facility Proposal

In Lamar, the district wants to build a new Spaulding Middle School that gives students and staff a safer, more modern learning environment while preserving the school’s identity and deep connection to the community. The current Spaulding Middle School suffers from aging infrastructure, including plumbing, roofing and other building systems that no longer meet the long-term needs of students and staff. The plan is to build the new school on the site of Lamar-Spaulding Elementary School, using land the district already owns. Infrastructure on that site was built for Lamar-Spaulding Elementary School, which opened in 2020. The new Spaulding Middle School would be a stand-alone, independent facility with its own administrative area, cafeteria, media center, competition gym and stage. Spaulding Middle School would remain Spaulding Middle School, serving the same grades, families and community in a new facility designed for today’s teaching and learning needs. The goal is to make a responsible investment in Lamar’s students and families while giving the community a school that is safe, welcoming and built to serve children well for generations to come.
