Kuykendall returns to Red Foxes athletics where he previously served as a goalkeeper coach and junior varsity head coach.

The Darlington County School District proudly inducted six distinguished alumni and educators into the 2026 DCSD Hall of Fame during a ceremony held Tuesday evening, June 16, at Watson Theater on the campus of Coker University.

The $138 million budget is built around four district priorities: student success, teacher support, workforce development and stewardship. The budget includes the highest starting teacher salary in the Pee Dee, a $1,000 increase to every step of the teacher salary schedule, an average 4.5 percent increase for classified employees, and a districtwide minimum wage of at least $15 per hour.

Darlington County School District will again offer free summer meals this year to any child 18 years of age and younger.

Online registration for the 2026-27 school year opens Friday, April 3, 2026, for the Darlington County School District (DCSD). Guided by its commitment to each child, every day, DCSD is ready to welcome the next class of students. Families can register now to take advantage of the district’s strong academic programs and opportunities. Space is still available in the district’s 4K and 5K programs, offering young learners a strong start in DCSD.

Christopher Hooks, a 2014 graduate of Darlington High School, will return to his alma mater as the new head coach for the girls varsity basketball program.

DCSD recently recognized and celebrated its National Board Certified teachers during the May meeting of the Darlington County Board of Education, honoring educators who have achieved one of the highest distinctions in the teaching profession.
