UPDATES: Black Creek Elementary School Construction
The Darlington County Board of Education approved the construction of a new Darlington-area elementary school in December 2022. The school will combine the students of St. John's Elementary School in Darlington and Rosenwald Elementary School in Society Hill.
The new school is located at a site between North Governor Williams Highway and Leavensworth Road in Darlington. The school is expected to serve approximately 630 students with an expansion capacity of up to 800. It will open for the 2025-26 school year. The District held a groundbreaking ceremony in February 2024 to officially kick off construction. The sub-menu on this page contains more news and updates related to this school.
In December 2024, the Darlington County Board of Education voted to name the new school "Black Creek Elementary School" after a thorough naming process. More information on this process may be found through the story link in the menu.
